AIIB’s Act Green Together (AGT) initiative has guided our efforts to integrate sustainability into the planning and delivery of the Annual Meeting. Our approach is set out in AIIB’s Sustainable Event Management Framework, which draws on good international practices, including ISO 20121 Event Sustainability Management Systems, while adapting sustainability measures to the local context of each host member.

For the 2026 Annual Meeting, we are partnering with the Government of Qatar and event vendors to reduce the event's overall carbon, environmental and ecological footprint by leveraging green actions adopted by the Annual Meeting venues, suppliers and partner hotels.

You are invited to join us in making the 2026 Annual Meeting more sustainable.

Before and on your way to the Annual Meeting

• Choose public travel options with lower carbon footprint where possible (e.g. lower-class flights, organized shuttle services, local public transport etc.)
• Bring a reusable water bottle and other reusable personal items where practical.
• Pack light to help reduce the environmental impact of your journey.

At the venue

• Use the AIIB AM 2026 App to access the program and logistical information, helping to minimize printing and paper use.
• Sort waste using the designated recycling and waste bins.
• Refill your reusable water bottle and avoid unnecessary single-use items.
• Take only the food you expect to eat to help reduce food waste.
• Track the real-time carbon footprint on the AGT app and be mindful of how you can help reduce it.

At your hotel

• Switch off lights and other electrical equipment when leaving your room.
• Use water responsibly and avoid unnecessary single-use toiletries.
• Follow the hotel's waste segregation and recycling arrangements.
